Our curriculum continues to ensure that our children’s learning is both meaningful and benefits from a specific focus on the core requirements of the English and mathematics curriculum.
We aim to be innovative in our practice to provide contextualised, stimulating learning opportunities which allow all our children to access learning.
Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) and Key Stage 2 (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6)
We follow the National Curriculum (2014) for all core subjects. The curriculum is split into objectives for each year group, and for each objective we teach we determine outcomes (success criteria) that we want the children to achieve. Children are put at the centre of their learning through this approach, and are supported to take ownership of their own 'Next steps' in learning. This motivates the children to succeed and to see how to improve their learning skills.
We also follow the National Curriculum for non-core subjects, and we teach these through a variety of exciting and inspiring themes or 'Topics', which give pupils to opportunity to develop their skills in other curriculum areas as well as to challenge themselves to take their learning further.
We also employ a number of specialist teachers who provide pupils with even greater opportunities to master skills in subjects such as art, music and P.E.
