Who's Who

Mrs Holst - Nursery Teacher

Miss Burrell - Learning Support Assistant

Routine and Information

P.E. takes place on a Friday Morning. Children are encouraged to take off and put on their own socks and shoes. Please try to avoid shoes that your child finds particularly difficult on Friday’s where possible.

Please ensure that your child has a change of clothes in a named bag. Little accidents often happen when they first start nursery for all sorts of reasons and this is quite normal. They also need a pair of wellies and a waterproof that can be kept at Nursery.

Please make sure the Nursery staff are aware of any changes to who will be picking up your child.

Please do look at the Topic Web as this gives a comprehensive over view of the areas of development we will be assessing. Please talk to us about your children’s learning at home as this helps us to plan activities for them in Nursery.

This term our Topic is ‘What creature am I?’ This Topic is focused around animals including Zoo animals, Sea creatures, Farm animals, Pets and Minibeasts.

We will also be going on a trip to Brandon Marsh to support our learning during this topic.

All of our learning will focus around animal topic books. Some of our topic stories for this term will be: Dear Zoo, Bear Hunt, The Rainbow Fish, Six Dinner Sid and What The Ladybird Heard. We will also be reading lots of non-fiction books about different animals.

We will continue to learn outside, using our outdoor area, the Trim Trail and visiting the forest area. Mark making and Number work will be embedded into everyday activities and there will be a strong focus on speaking skills as well as social skills this term, including making new friends and playing as part of a group. Our literacy will be strongly linked to our topic stories, and we will be doing lots of focus on oral blending and segmenting to support children’s early reading and writing. (For example children can put together the sounds c-a-t to make the word cat, or if you say the word cat, can your child tell you the different sounds that they can hear in the word.) We will continue to develop creativity through role-play, singing and dancing and painting, drawing, cutting and sticking, playdough and cooking activities.  We will also be taking part in the little sing to support our creative development.

We will use our Interactive whiteboard, class computers and ipads to support learning and development in all areas.
