Who's Who

Mrs Holst - Nursery Teacher

Miss Burrell - Learning Support Assistant

Routine and Information

Please ensure that your child has a change of clothes in a named bag. Little accidents often happen when they first start nursery for all sorts of reasons and this is quite normal. They also need a pair of wellies and a waterproof that can be kept at Nursery.

Please make sure the Nursery staff are aware of any changes to who will be picking up your child.

Please do look at the Topic Web as this gives a comprehensive over view of the areas of development we will be assessing. Please talk to us about your children’s learning at home as this helps us to plan activities for them in Nursery.

We are really looking forward to working with you and your children this year, please do come and speak to us of you have any questions or problems. We will be available most mornings when children are dropped off or collected.

We will be continuing to support all of the children who will be moving up to Reception in September to come into Nursery from our outdoor area independently. This will help the transition as they begin to get ready for the reception class.

Children will now be bringing home a library book every Friday that they have chosen. Please share these books with your children and return every Friday to ensure they can choose a new book.

This Half Term

This term our Topic is ‘Who can help?’ This Topic is focused around people who help us, for example, Police officers, fire fighters, doctors, nurses, builders, taxi/bus drivers, teachers, mechanics and many more.

Our literacy will be strongly linked through various information books as well as stories relating to our topic. We will be continuing to have a focus on oral blending and segmenting to support children’s early reading and writing. (For example children can put together the sounds c-a-t to make the word cat, or if you say the word cat, can your child tell you the different sounds that they can hear in the word.) We will continue to develop creativity through role-play, singing and dancing and painting, drawing, cutting and sticking, playdough and cooking activities. In number work we will be looking at different amounts of objects and comparing using the language, more than, less than, the same as. We will also be looking at number recognition and matching the correct amount of objects to given numerals. We will continue to use our outdoor area to support physical development and knowledge and understanding of the world.

We will use our Interactive whiteboard, class computers and ipads to support learning and development in all areas.

PE is on a Friday morning. Children are encouraged to take off and put on their own socks and shoes. Please try to avoid shoes that your child finds particularly difficult on Friday’s where possible.
