PE times for this half term

Friday Morning - We will encourage children to be independent in taking off their shoes and socks and putting them back on. We will of course support children where needed but would really appreciate it if they could wear shoes and socks that they will find easier to do on a Friday.

Information about the curriculum (Short paragraph discussing the overall themes / topics / learning for this half term)

N.B. Please also send a copy of your half-termly overview for parents

This half term our Topic is ‘I need a hero’ We are looking forward to welcoming back some of our children as well as getting to know lots of new faces. We will be working on settling the children into nursery and supporting them in learning our rules and routines and learning how to be a good friend to others.

All of our learning will focus around a different story every 3 weeks. Our focus stories for this half term are:  The rainbow fish, Owl babies, I will not ever eat a tomato.  We will be learning about our families, staying healthy, all of our senses and sharing all of the great things about ourselves whilst learning to make new friends and join in with new activities and experiences. We will also be learning about people who help us and different occupations. We will continue to develop our listening skills, joining in with repeated phrases and rhymes and starting to discover alliteration. We will continue to learn outside, using our outdoor area, and the trim trial. Sorting and matching activities, learning to count and talk about quantity will continue to be embedded into the daily routines and children will be encouraged to mark make and explore early writing skills.

Please ensure that your child has a change of clothes in a named bag. Little accidents often happen when they first start nursery for all sorts of reasons and this is quite normal. Children also need a pair of wellies and a waterproof that can be kept at Nursery.

Please make sure the Nursery staff are aware of any changes to who will be picking up your child.

Please do look at the Topic Web as this gives a comprehensive over view of the areas of development we will be assessing. Please talk to us about your children’s learning at home as this helps us to plan activities for them in Nursery.
