Welcome to Nursery

Who's Who

Mrs Holst - Nursery Teacher

Miss Burrell - Learning Support Assistant

Routine and Information

P.E. takes place on a Friday Morning. Children are encouraged to take off and put on their own socks and shoes. Please try to avoid shoes that your child finds particularly difficult on Friday’s where possible.

This half term our Topic is ‘What makes me Special?’ We are looking forward to welcoming back some of our children as well as getting to know lots of new faces. We will be working on settling the children into nursery and supporting them in learning our rules and routines and learning how to be a good friend to others.

All of our learning will focus around a different story every 2 weeks. Our focus stories for this half term are: Starting Nursery, The rainbow fish, Owl babies and Olivers fruit salad/Olivers Vegetables.  We will be learning about our bodies and body parts, staying healthy, all of our senses and sharing all of the great things about ourselves whilst learning to make new friends and join in with new activities and experiences. We will continue to develop our listening skills, joining in with repeated phrases and rhymes and starting to discover alliteration. We will continue to learn outside, using our outdoor area, the Trim Trail and visiting the forest. Sorting and matching activities, learning to count and talk about quantity will continue to be embedded into the daily routines and children will be encouraged to mark make and explore early writing skills.

Please ensure that your child has a change of clothes in a named bag. Little accidents often happen when they first start nursery for all sorts of reasons and this is quite normal. Children also need a pair of wellies and a waterproof that can be kept at Nursery.

Please make sure the Nursery staff are aware of any changes to who will be picking up your child.

Please do look at the Topic Web as this gives a comprehensive over view of the areas of development we will be assessing. Please talk to us about your children’s learning at home as this helps us to plan activities for them in Nursery.

We are really looking forward to working with you and your children this year, please do come and speak to us of you have any questions or problems. We will be available most mornings when children are dropped off or collected. smiley
