Forest School

Forest School

Forest School takes place in all weathers and as such your child will need to be dressed accordingly.

  • Waterproof trousers and a waterproof jacket
  • Wellington boots
  • Extra warm layers – thermals, leggings or extra tights, even for boys are good
  • Warm socks, or two pairs
  • An extra jumper or fleece
  • A warm hat and gloves
  • Sunhat, sun cream

Forest School research tells us that children are stimulated by the outdoors and typically experience, over time, an increase in their self-belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem solving skills and emotional well-being.

At Forest School all participants are viewed as:

  • equal, unique and valuable
  • competent to explore & discover
  • entitled to experience appropriate risk and challenge
  • entitled to choose, and to initiate and drive their own learning and development
  • entitled to experience regular success
  • entitled to develop positive relationships with themselves and other people
  • entitled to develop a strong, positive relationship with their natural world
