Who's who

Mrs Myers-Class Teacher(Monday to Wednesday)

Mrs Parrott - Class Teacher (Wednesday morning, Thursday and Friday)

Miss Burrell - Learning Support Assistant

Welcome to our Reception class page. Here is some information about our class that you may find useful.

Reading

Children will initially have a picture book which they can share with you, discussing what is happening in the book. When your child has learnt their first phonemes taught in class and is able to segment and blend words, they will have a reading book with words in. Please hear your child read 3 times a week, for about 5 minutes, and sign their reading diary. Reading certificates are awarded after every 20th log in their reading diary. Reading Books and reading diaries should be brought into school every day.

Children will also bring home a shared reading book each week, chosen by your child from the school library. This book can be shared and read together with your child.

Homework
We send home a weekly home communication letter detailing what has been taught during the week. There will be a suggested activity which you may like to do with your child to support our learning in school. Home Communication books are sent home on a Thursday and should be returned the following Tuesday

PE

PE for Reception will take place every Monday. Children can come to school wearing their full PE kit

(navy/black joggers or shorts, house colour/white t-shirt and dark jogging top or blue school jumper).

Forest School

Forest school takes place every Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure your child has waterproof trousers and a waterproof coat, wellington boots, a hat, scarf and gloves.

Spring 1 Highlights:

We had fun today when our families came to watch and take part in our number lesson.

We learnt about Epiphany and made a banner which we showed to the other classes.

Autumn 2 Highlights:

We have enjoyed learning about the Christmas story.

Reception and Nursery children performed their Early Years nativity play called ‘A Wriggly Nativity’ to their families. They were all fantastic, learning songs and words and acting out the play.

We made our own wrapping paper by using different techniques to make prints and repeated patterns.

Nursery and Reception children and their families came back to school for our Sleepy Story time Evening. The children came dressed in their pyjamas. We shared stories and had biscuits and hot chocolate.

This week we had a visit from the Warwickshire road safety officer. We learnt how to stay safe when outside near roads.

We made poppies to help us think about Remembrance Day.
