Behaviour

At St Oswald’s, we are committed to creating an environment where exemplary behaviour is at the heart of productive learning.

We believe that children need boundaries and a clear set of expectations to help them behave in a positive way, therefore, we have the following school rules which have been linked to the school values. As a Christian school, we aim to foster these values in our pupils and so live out, through our daily actions, our school vision of imagine, believe, achieve.

We believe that the best results, in terms of promoting good behaviour, arise from emphasising potential, giving praise both for effort and achievement, rather than focusing on failures or shortcomings and rewarding successes.

We have a core set of rewards which will be used by all staff but these will be supplemented by systems that work for individual classes or children.

Children should be encouraged to use good manners and suitable language at all times throughout the school including the corridors, hall, library, dining hall and playground.

We believe in explaining clearly what ‘good manners’ we expect pupils to demonstrate.

Please visit the 'policies' section of our website to read the behaviour policy in full.
